The Preserve at Spruce Creek

Many fly-fishermen will never cast their feathered offerings on a private stretch of limestone spring creek. "Limestoners" are fed by fertile natural springs spilling from the underground aquifer at cool, year-‘round temperatures of 48 to 52 degrees F and represent less than 3 percent of all the trout streams in the world. Vegetation flourishes on the nutrients in these alkaline creeks and provides an environment where insects and crustaceans abound and trout can feast and grow rapidly.

Since these spring creeks are so few and far between, the trout grow big and strong, the majority have been jealously guarded by their owners for decades. Private clubs in Europe and the USA recognized the value of these streams and secured access for their members over 100 years ago. If you are lucky to be a friend of a member, you maybe invited occasionally as a guest to fish these hallowed waters. Many such clubs have membership waiting lists of ten or more years and only one-in-ten applicants ever make the queue.

In addition to providing access to some of the best limestoners in the world, Spring Ridge Club maintains its high-quality fishing by limiting daily access to each and every stretch as well as resting each stretch 50 percent of the time. All beats are scheduled for exclusive access by a member and guest AFTER they are thoroughly rested. This ensures top-quality fishing each and every day.

Spruce Creek holds a reputation as the host of fly-fishing dignitaries from all over the world, including many U.S. Presidents. Dwight Eisenhower loved Spruce Creek and Jimmy Carter still visits friends here every year. Spring Ridge Club is fortunate to maintain access to nearly two miles of the very best stretches of Spruce Creeks. Thanks to prolific year-‘round hatches and abundance of large wild trout, Spruce Creek yields hundreds of trout in the five-to-seven-pound range from its waters each and every year with several dozen topping the 10-pound mark.

There are several other watersheds in the Preserve at Spruce Creek offering members a variety of habitats, hatches, and fishing of a lifetime. Other river beats include Warriors Mark Run, Yellow Creek, Penns Creek, Elk Creek.

The Spruce Creek "Camps"

The Spring Ridge Club experience means much more than just quality fishing. We’re proud to feature lodging options for club members and their guests streamside. Our lodges are comfortable and some are very luxurious. They are clean, staffed for housekeeping and cooking, and in most cases, within a short walk of excellent fishing. At the Espy Camp, a Clubhouse (the Stone House) offers members a place to congregate and pack lunches, have good dinners and stock up on tackle and other fishing gear.

Bird Huniting at Spruce Creek

The Spruce Creek experience for members also includes bird hunts on our 400-acre private preserve just a short distance from Camp Espy, in the beautiful Sinking Valley. We offer our members both chukar and pheasant hunts, complete with processing of the birds after the hunt is over.
